Psychological service for children

The psychologist assesses cases and offers psychological service to children with developmental, anxiety or mood disorders. Parents can turn to this service if they suspect there is something wrong with the development of their children, or notice changes in behavior that become difficult to manage. The psychologist offers assessment of concrete cases, and following their treatment according to agreement with the parent.

Adult psychological counseling

The psychologist assesses and offers psychological service to individuals who have personal concerns, related or not to their physical health as well as the families of these persons. The psychologist can use psychological tests to assess the intellectual abilities and different aspects of the individual. The therapist listens to the person's concerns, experience and needs and helps him accept his health reality. The therapeutic role of the psychologist allows him to create connections with the past, present and future. The psychologist is part of the multidisciplinary group consisting of doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, etc.

Depending on the diagnosis or specific situation, the psychologist can meet for a single session or many sessions, with a duration of 50 minutes. Therapy sessions can be individual, as a couple, or in a group depending on the problem and judgment of the psychologist.

FAQ

1How many sessions will I need?
This is evaluated by the specialist and will change according to your condition. Therapies can be short or long-term, starting from a few sessions, and can continue as long as is requested by both the client and the psychologist.
2What can happen in the first session?
The first sessions are usually helpful to gather information about the past history, major concerns, or problems of the client. This will be essential to establish an estimate of how many sessions can be needed, help you decide if you feel comfortable working with the current psychologist, and help to understand if he can assist with your actual problem or needs to refer you to a more appropriate one.
3Are psychologists the same as psychiatrists?
No, a psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe medication, while psychologists usually don’t have the authority to prescribe medications. In case you need specialized help, your psychologist can refer you to the right professional.
